Tough Tony Borne was his tag team partner in Portland and I will never forget Tony telling me that Lonnie was a very intelligent guy who read non-stop and would never pick up a fiction book, because he could never learn from a story. The mean-guy act was just that, and he did it better than anyone who stepped foot on the mat in the Armory on 10th St. Lonnie was born "Ronald Doyle Mayne" in 1944 (Fairfax Calif) and became an All American football player at Southern Utah College. His Dad was professional wrestler (Kenny Mayne) and Lonnie followed in his Dads footsteps. Lonnie was always the bad guy playing the big dude with no brains, eating live fish and eating glass while being interviewed by Frank Bonnema on KPTV. During his time in Oregon, Apache Bull Ramos broke Mayne's arm, causing the bone to stick out (Lonnie continued the match!)....He played the San Francisco & Portland circuit becoming a major headliner. Lonnie died in a tragic car crash on August 14, 1978.
